as if inside our skulls, instead of the brain, we felt a fish, floating, attracted by the Moon.

Living arrangements and other such things

Hahaha. I was browsing tumblr and found this photo, it made me chuckle a little. This is photoshopped to look all horror-movie-esq. The original was a photo of one of the first patients to receive a facial transplant; I think her black lab attacked her. I still find it surprising that a black lab did that. They're usually such nice dogs, I wonder what provoked it?

In other news, I realize I keep forgetting to write anything about the container house.
Jack's father, in a sudden bought of insanity/generosity decided that if Jack arranges everything (finding land, materials, planning out and setting up the whole thing) that he would pay all expenses to build a house for us out of shipping containers.
This is an example of a shipping container house, for those who are skeptical of how "home"y it would be. Shipping container houses are becoming more popular with the energy efficient/green crowd, and they're super cheap to build. Each container is about $1000-$1500, and four containers would be more than enough to build an average sized two-story house.

Though, at the moment, the biggest issue we've run into is buying land. Land is very expensive (there's a $100,000 budget on this project) and the towns in which land is cheap are way out in the middle of fucking nowhere (nowhere as in no cell service and no cable TV). It would be nice to live in the woods, but not nice to have to drive 1-2 hours to get to school every day.
So Jack's father proposed that if we can't find a suitable place to actually put the container house, he would be willing to up the budget to $200,000, and consider just buying us a house. Which, holy shit, would be fabulous. With mortgage + bills it would probably be about $1100 a month to live in, so we'd probably rent out some rooms to pay for it.
Either way, all of this is awesome.

By the way, whether or not we build a house or buy one, this would all be happening over the summer.

kirsten's-life-the-comic chapter 1, in which I lock my keys in the car; starring me as myself and jack as the true harry potter

me: "d'you get the keys?"
jack: "yeah"

jack: "ok, I have to go, do you have the keys?"
me: "I thought you had them."

"get the vice grips!"
"shit!"
"do we have a coat hanger? maybe matson has a coat hanger."

me: "someone's going to arrest us."
jack: "I don't think this is working."

handy-dandy-fireman: "hey, you guys locked out?"
jack: "yes! yes! awesome!"
me: "thank god we're white."
jack: "no foolin'"

fuck everything

Sometimes I hate college. I know I'm smart. I know I know this stuff. I know all the answers to the PRS questions in biology, I've read the whole book, I know all the information by heart, so then WHY THE FUCK did I get a 60 on the exam? what is wrong with me? I would blame it on the exam but I mean, that doesn't change anything, I'm still going to fail a class that I KNOW ALL OF THE INFORMATION FOR BETTER THAN MOST PEOPLE IN THE CLASS just because I can't take a fucking test. God damnit.

I wish I could apply to a morgue/crime lab and say,
"ok, I know I don't have a college degree or good grades, but ask me anything you want about the human body/the process of death and decomposition/illness and disease/neurotoxins and poisons/psychoactives/etc and I'll prove that I'm suited to work here."

but the world doesn't work that way.

(ps) FUCK THE HICCUPS.

that shit could kill a bus of kids

I just watched 500 Days Of Summer. it made me feel like I should pack up the [bare] necessities and move to the city and get a cheap apartment and start my life over again. drop out of college, work as a waitress, write books of short stories, search for a publisher, publish one or two books, make very little money, stay alive.

I know it wasn't supposed to be a happy movie, but somehow I expected it to be. I was a little bit disappointed. I want to paint the walls of the apartment with stars and galaxies, but I think the woman who owns the building would fine us, so I won't.

Instead, I'll clean the apartment today and paint on the cardboard in the alley way and duct tape it to the walls.

that boy is a monster

I haven't been online as often recently. I suppose this should really be a good thing. I want to start painting again, and when I say that it implies that I haven't been painting which is not true, but I want to start painting more often. I used to draw/paint/doartshit basically all the time, but I haven't since high school, really. maybe being in school will make me draw more, because my classes are all lectures that are actually pretty cool, so I want to be there to listen, and I'll have time to doodle. I did lots of doodling in food science... so much love for my jolly indian professor who says things like, "if I say anything that sounds complex you should ignore it."

he's a wolf
in disguise
but I can't stop staring in those evil eyes.

monster is stuck in my head
and I can't stop
singing it
(in my head)
but it's not really that bad because
I really like that song.
monster is basically how I feel today.

lady gaga has "love songs" that are actually pretty legit.
she speaks the truth.
I empathize with monster + bad romance + teeth, etc.
whoops.

this is my life

(after we finish watching another horror movie)
matson: [stands] ok, let's do this shit...[walks out of the room]
jack: what? what? [getting up] what? what are you...? [peaking down the hallway] oh, you want to make bacon.

see the walking wounded and the living dead

heavy, beautiful snow in greenfield.
calm.

listening to meat loaf.

(ps) taking way too much tylenol makes you trip pretty hard in your dreams in a half-asleep-half-awake-but-unable-to-talk kind of way. It was actually kind of worrisome.

babycouldyoublowmyheartup

Having a not-so-social day.

I made fried rice and tofu for breakfast. it was odd. not very breakfast-y. my breakfasts are never breakfast-y though, it seems. yesterday I had green beans for breakfast.
I'm tired. I'm always tired. this is pretty hindering, motivation-wise.

Jack found a wonderful picture of a guy speared through the head with a wooden board that someone had drawn plank's face on (from ed edd n eddy) but I think it's too much to post here lol. oh well.

rainbow warriors

I feel like I'm the one in my group of friends who no one really likes and is kind of an annoying know-it-all. I'm pretty rude and offensive a lot of the time. and whiny. and unintentionally mean. I tend to make people angry/upset it seems. though I don't really have any way of knowing if my suspicions are true or not, because of course if you ask someone,
"do you secretly dislike me?"
what are they going to say? that's such an awkward question. it's a question I feel I would probably ask without thinking. I do things like that sometimes, unfortunately.

I stole this picture from alanna. I really liked it. it describes what I want to be pretty clearly, I think.

this makes me a little bit sick to look at, actually, but only if I think of it as food. if I think of it as art, it's sometimes pretty.

I'm pretty disgusting. I'm pretty bloated and saggy and worn and torn looking today. I think I would prompt one of those awkward, "are you sick? you look terrible!"-s from people today.

I feel kind of broken. like how a machine is broken. I feel like something is wrong with me. I'm very unmotivated in the way I used to be [work is literally scary. any kind of work. cleaning, dishes, going to the store, leaving the apartment...]

let's get married today

Easily
let's get caught in a wave.
easily
we wont get caught in a cage.
shao lin shakin for the sake
of his soul.
everything must go.
lookin mighty tired of
all the things that you own.
everything must go.

I'm a broke hipster, so I'm going to paint instead of paying for christmas presents.
I've done it before. oh well. my family probably won't care (especially because even if I had money I would probably buy lame gifts).
right now I'm painting a mermaid & some fish. her head is too small, her neck is too long, and her anatomy is really fucked. I assume my non-artist family won't notice [hopefully].
(click for a larger version so you can see what I'm talking about.)
oh yeah mermaid oh yeah that's right yeah uh huh yeah work it girl uh huh.

I'm super lame.
all the time.

funky.

I think it's hilarious that the co-op here sells enzymes in tablets
[and they're enzymes we worked with in lab].
I could buy amylase supplements if I wanted to[/had money].
amylase breaks down amylopectin[starch] into sugar.
hilarious.

this is how I feel about life.

with the birds I share this loooonelyyyyy viiiiieeeeewwwww.
